The arrival of the eagerly awaited James Bond video game, titled 007 First Light, has been pushed back until 27 May 2026.
Initially scheduled for a 27 March release, the title will now debut approximately 60 days past its initial date.
A Long-Awaited Return for 007
This project marks the maiden video game to feature the famous British spy following 2012's 007 Legends, wrapping up a lengthy hiatus for the character in the gaming world.
"007 First Light is fully playable from beginning to end," explained studio IO Interactive. "Yet, we are using this additional period to further polish and guarantee it satisfies the lofty standards of our players."
Development Details and Story Elements
The game is being developed in partnership with Delphi Interactive, a studio that is developing another upcoming title.
Patrick Gibson, recognized from Dexter: Original Sin, will star as a 26-year-old James Bond in what is described as a reimagined origin story.
The narrative details Bond as he joins into MI6 and secures his prestigious 00 status, offering a original plot unconnected to the films or books.
Notable Cast and Gameplay Glimpses
Enhancing the star power, American musician Lenny Kravitz has been revealed as the game's primary antagonist.
Early gameplay trailers have highlighted shared mechanics with IO Interactive's hit Hitman franchise, while also featuring the classic gadgets and action-packed sequences synonymous with Bond.
Nonetheless, comments from viewers on these trailers expressed concerns regarding graphical fidelity, pointing out stuttering and prominent motion blur.

IO Interactive has called 007 First Light its "most ambitious project to date."
