Unveiling an Unusual Steam Demo: Guiding a Turdy Character with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have found a variety of entertaining independent titles. But, one is particularly notable for its offbeat concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure features a hero that is actually a piece of poop striving to make its way to a commode. In case you're wondering, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
Player controls is straightforward: just use a one button to leap. Across one hundred fifty stages, battle boss fights and unlock a market to purchase outfits for your fecal avatar.
Plan your movements precisely, as a wrong move requires starting over. Jump off bubbles to propel your character higher, navigate fragile ledges, and activate buttons to unlock new areas. Earn currency to purchase challenging game content where the action gets crazy.
In terms of design, the game shows off vibrant environments and an amazing background music. The retro visual style with shifting geometric shapes evokes memories of fans of beloved games like Earthbound.
While it's tough to recall previous releases where you control a piece of feces, video games often featured toilet humor. For instance, in Death Stranding, players create throwables from protagonist excrement. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as fertilizer. And of course, such content shows up a lot in the adventure The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its silly idea, Unko Technica has already received significant accolades, like winning at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is accessible now on Steam, with the final release scheduled to launch on computers this November.
