Battlefield 6 Players Are Convinced: Challenges Are Way Too Hard
The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are protesting against a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.
Players have started turning to personalized games set up using the custom game tool to complete them, underscoring just how arduous these assignments have become.
Comprehending BF6 Assignments
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. It features four classes of assignments, but while the majority merely grant outfits and select equipment, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of obtaining twelve from the forty-one key firearms available in the game.
Several of these restricted firearms might eventually find their way on rankings for the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry across Reddit
Within Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. A particular gamer highlighted one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so awful and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and functions solely at very short distances, which is not usually a position you prefer to be. That player also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Ridiculously Tough Mission
Another Reddit user pointed out another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to unlock the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with marksman guns
This is challenging enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game at present, it means you're limited to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and possibly a classic map at a push if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.
The Bypass
Nevertheless, a method exists: the portal. The custom game creator is a feature that enables you to make custom game modes on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.
Yet, if tackling the tasks in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for finishing these in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Future Adjustments
It should not be shocking if several of these tasks are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because if they're not, some players simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.
For now, the community continues to share their thoughts on these challenging multiplayer missions, anticipating a fairer player experience in subsequent patches.
