Significant Web Outage Hits Many Online Platforms and Apps
A widespread web outage has affected dozens websites and applications around the world, and users reporting troubles accessing the internet following issues at the online infrastructure system.
The impacted services comprise Snapchat, Roblox, the messaging service Signal, and the language learning app Duolingo, as well as several Amazon-owned services including its key e-commerce site and the Ring home security firm.
In the UK, the financial institution Lloyds was affected along with its branches Halifax and Bank of Scotland, while there were additional accounts of issues reaching the HMRC online portal on Monday morning. Also in the UK, multiple Ring device owners took to online platforms to report their home gadgets were not working.
Solely in the United Kingdom, accounts of issues on specific apps totaled the tens of thousands for every service.
Officials confirmed that the outage originated in the east coast of the America at AWS, a unit that supplies essential online framework for many firms, who rent out capacity on the company's servers. The cloud platform is the biggest global web hosting platform.
